Micro-Muni Installation

Install the Micro-Muni Security Device

Install the Micro-Muni Parallel Port Security key in your computers LPT1 Port, or the Micro-Muni USB Security Key into an unused USB port.

Install the Micro-Muni Security Drivers

From our website you can go to the Download menu button. Under the Section titled "Special Software" you will see an option to download the Micro-Muni Security Drivers. Simply download and install this program. This program tells Windows that Micro-Muni will be reading the security device.

If you have a Micro-Muni CD, there should be a folder named Micro-Muni Security Drivers. In this folder there may be two additional folders named 1st method and 2nd method. Open the 1st method folder and then double click on the program named Install_Drivers. This is the same software program that can be downloaded from our website mentioned in the paragraph above.

Install the Micro-Muni software

From our website you can go to the Download menu button. Under the Section titled "Version 7.1" you can download the Micro-Muni software product that you purchased. Select the software program you purchased. The downloaded file is a Win Zip self-extracting file, which means that it contains all the software programs in one file. Once the file is downloaded, the program will ask you to specify a folder where you want to store all the Micro-Muni program files (e.g. C:\MUNI).  I do not recommend the default folder (C:\Windows\temp). Once you click UnZip, the downloaded file will extract all the Micro-Muni programs to the folder you specified. That's it.

Note:This installation will not affect any of your data files.

Installing from a Micro-Muni CD you will need to use Window Explorer to locate your computers CD/DVD drive, open the folder “Micro-Muni”, and then locate the Micro-Muni program (e.g. Install_MMD).  Install this program by double clicking the application program.  The program will ask you for a folder name to store the files (e.g. C:\MUNI).  I do not recommend the default folder (C:\Windows\temp). Repeat this process for each Micro-Muni program that you purchased.

Create a Desktop Shortcut

Now let's create a desktop shortcut to any of the Micro-Muni program files.  While on your Windows desktop, select an open area and Right-Click your mouse.  You should see a menu appear. Select New from the menu, and then select Shortcut.  This will start a Wizard to help you create a shortcut to Micro-Muni (e.g. for Micro-Muni Debt).  For Micro-Muni Debt, enter C:\MUNI\mmd.bat and press Next for the Wizard to confirm the location of the program. Then enter the shortcut name that you want (e.g. Debt) and press Finish. The shortcut should now appear on your desktop.

Install the Dot Net Framework

If you wish to utilize Micro-Muni Sidekick for reporting and exporting the Micro-Muni Reports to an Acrobat PDF file format, you will need to install the Microsoft’s  Dot Net Framework first, and then install Micro-Muni Sidekick.  If not, then you may skip the next steps.

Microsoft’s Dot Net Framework is simply some add-on files for Windows 2000 and Windows XP that Microsoft provided.  They will not affect your normal Windows 2000, or Windows XP.  They might already be installed with Windows XP Professional.

You can install the Dot Net Framework via our website link under the Download button. This will take you to the Microsoft website where you can obtain the Dot Net Framework 1.1 program file. Once you have downloaded and installed the Dot Net Framework 1.1, you will have to reboot your machine only this once.

To install the Microsoft Dot Net Framework from the CD, you will find the program dotnetfX in the folder Microsoft Dot Net.  Open and install this program.  Once installed, you will have to reboot your computer once.

Install Micro-Muni Sidekick

You can download and install Micro-Muni Sidekick from our website under the Download button and the section titled "Windows Software". Simply download and the installation steps are self explanatory. Once installed, you will see a little Gold icon on you desktop. Micro-Muni Sidekick will also be available from your Program Files under the section "Financial Management Systems, Inc."   You do not have to reboot your computer. That's it.
